SBFI Group
Spatial design
Photography
The new London headquarters for SBFI Group occupies the 2nd floor of Landmark House, an iconic building in the heart of the city.
My challenge was to make use of the 3000ft space, turning it from a complete shell into a feature rich and engaging area for staff and clients to enjoy being in. My aim was to create a memorable space that revealed itself as the visitor moved around it. Dividing the 3000 sq ft space up into three main sections would imbue a sense of curiosity into a visitor, rather than revealing the space in one go.
Design and build
Having the manufacturing facilities in house meant that experimenting with materials and finishes was much more convenient. Prototyping the Oak cladding and finishes lead to the development of a cladding system, used in all of the SBFI Group showrooms globally.
Design language
SBFI Groups exposure to contemporary office design meant that aligning the showroom to that industry was very important. Finishes seemed to follow on effortlessly from this, using materials such as European Oak to create a space that felt human and tactile. Dressing the showroom with minimal furniture from Norman Copenhagen and classics from Charles & Ray Eames finished in subtle blue's and grey's complimented the natural tones of the Oak and woven flooring.
